Historic house came alive for holiday fête

To the Editor:

The Guilderland Garden Club would like to thank the many visitors who attended the 2024 Open House and Greens Show at Guilderland’s historic Frederick-Mynderse House in Guilderland Center in December. We had a wonderful holiday open house.

This annual town-wide function was also co-hosted by the Guilderland Historical Society and the Helderview Garden Club. Many visitors came to view the recently renovated and painted home.

The house came alive that weekend with each room beautifully decorated by club members with live greens, trees, arrangements, florals, and much more. Refreshments were provided to all guests by the Guilderland Garden Club.

Tours and information about this Federal style home were provided by the Guilderland Historical Society and children were delighted to meet Santa.

Special thanks to the following companies for their generous donations: Candy Kraft Candies; Gary Gillespie of Colonial Acres Nursery; Gade Farm; Hewitt’s Garden Center; Orchard Tavern West, Dylan Langton, owner of Pretty Alright Breakfast Club; Price Chopper; Robinson Ace Hardware Stores; and Tractor Supply Company.

Many thanks to our volunteer entertainers, including Donna Crego, Bill Dergosits, Janice Genovesi, John Overbeck, Tom Thorpe, and Nina Zanetti.

Thanks to our wonderful student volunteers from Guilderland High School and many thanks to the Guilderland Town staff at the Department of Parks and Recreation. Thanks to the Helderberg Reformed Church for the use of the church’s parking lot.

This fundraiser helped the Guilderland Garden Club with its annual scholarship program, Wreaths Across America for our veterans, and local food pantries as well as donations to other organizations in our community.

A very special thank-you to all the club members who devoted many cold and snowy days with their great talents to make this fundraiser and community event a success.
