John Edward Pieck

John Edward Pieck

ALTAMONT — John Pieck, who taught by example and had an unending love for his family, died on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2026, following an unexpected illness. He was 78.

“A husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many,” his family wrote in a tribute, “he will be remembered for his kindness, his ability to fix almost anything (often in very creative ways), and the quiet way he helped anyone who needed it.

“He shared his knowledge with many people, teaching more by example than explanation. He faced his illness as he faced life: with typical courage and flashes of humor. He had unending love for his family, and the things he created with his hands will be cherished as much as family memories.

“John is survived by Ginny, his wife of 54 years; by his children: Stephanie, Christopher, Mark, Kristen, Steve, Star, Michael, Derrell, Terrina, Andrea, Rashima, and Dameon; and by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

“He cherished his bonds with his children’s  partners and extended family.”
