The acting supervisor, William Bichteman, cannot vote on the town board but otherwise has most of the powers of town supervisor. Republican council members say they want to leave it this way until voters can choose their own supervisor in November.
Although elections are half-a-year away, two candidates have announced they are running for Knox town supervisor: Vasilios Lefkaditis, the current supervisor, and Amy Pokorny, a town councilwoman.
KNOX — Currently the planning board’s secretary, Independence Party member Pamela Fenoff wants to unseat incumbent supervisor Michael Hammond. She says he has been in the job for too long.
BERNE — The two repeat candidates to lead Berne — Republican William Keal and Democrat Kevin Crosier — have differences on whether the town should allow fracking and on how business should be encouraged, but they agree the town should have no problem meeting the state-set tax cap.
RENSSELAERVILLE — This is the second consecutive unopposed election for Valerie Lounsbury. She wants to finish what she’s started, two years into the job.
Pamela Fenoff, a member of the Independence Party, beat Michael Hammond, a Democrat, for the Independence line for Knox supervisor ahead of the general election in November.
