“It didn’t make sense to have two people with the same policy positions run against each other,” said Jeff Collins, explaining why he has ended his campaign to represent District 46 in the State Senate and will instead support fellow Democrat Michelle Hinchey.

At her last meeting, Councilwoman Patricia Snyder voted against supporting the county’s clean-air bill because of what she termed a “vacuum” of information.

BERNE — As the two Democratic incumbents on the town board here are not seeking re-election, the town board race pits two Democrats — Frank Brady and Brian Bunzey — against two Republican nominees: Bonnie Conklin and Matthew Harris. All but Conklin are new to elected office.

The newcomer running for the board for the first time is a lieutenant colonel in the Air National Guard.

GUILDERLAND — Four candidates are running for four seats on the Guilderland school board. The top three vote-getters will serve full three-year terms; the candidate who finishes fourth will fill out a two-year term.

Randy Bashwinger, Berne’s highway superintendent, is challenging incumbent Lillian Sisson-Chrysler, a nurse, for a seat on the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School Board.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo’s school board race will include incumbent Lillian Sisson-Chrysler and Berne Highway Superintendent Randy Bashwinger.

The positions of town justice, clerk, and highway superintendent are up for election this November. All incumbents are unopposed.
