Tuesday's loss to Niskayuna made for a long post-game conversation for the Guilderland girls' lacrosse team.

The village board could have rejected outright the request to enlarge its commercial district so Stewart's could grow but has decided instead to draft a law that would change the zoning, allowing for public discussion.

GUILDERLAND — A Utica man pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, in front of Judge Peter Lynch in Albany County Court on April 10.

ALTAMONT — Happy Cat Rescue is planning on participating in the village-wide garage sale, hosted by the Parent Teacher Association at Altamont Elementary School, in Altamont on May 2.

The "Stand Up 4 Transportation" rally was held at Crossgates to urge Congress to renew funding for the federal transportation bill, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century Act (MAP-21), which expires at the end of May.

Altamont kids on school break pitched in this week to make pillowcases for foster children who often arrive at their new home with all their worldly possessions in a garbage bag.

The Boyd Hilton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Altamont will be hosting its semi-annual Chicken ’n’ Biscuit Dinner on April 11, at the post at 11 Mill Street. Dinner will be served from 4 till 7 p.m.  The donation for the dinner will be $10 per person.

The Wounded Warrior Project has chosen Albany for the sixth annual Memorial Day 100 relay marathon. This year’s run will take 30 Marine Corps veterans 138 miles, from the World War II Memorial in Albany to the Orange County Veterans Cemetery at Goshen, New York.

ALTAMONT — The Altamont Stewart’s Shop wants to expand. A local property owner and Stewart’s entered a sales contract that could give the store room to grow, but local residents voiced their opposition to the expansion at Tuesday’s Altamont Village Board meeting.

Guilderland was way up, then down, then up again.
