GUILDERLAND — Isiah R. Folds was arrested on Feb. 19 for driving while intoxicated with a child in his car — Leandra’s Law makes it an automatic felony on first offense to drive drunk with someone age 15 or younger as a passenger; it sets the blood alcohol content at .08.

GUILDERLAND — The call came in at 12:34 a.m. on Tuesday, said McKownville Fire Chief Russ Becker, who responded to a fire in a dormitory on the University at Albany campus on Feb. 23.

The fire was in a third-floor suite in Oneida Hall in Indian Quad, said the university’s director of media relations, Karl Luntta.

Deuce is a family horse who became locally famous this week after he got lost last Monday. Thanks to social media postings and re-sharings, numerous people were actively looking for him.

A Brooklyn girl who could go from camping to diamonds with equal class, Anne Fass managed her husband’s dental practice in Altamont for 35 years while remaining devoted to her family.

On Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, she died peacefully at home surrounded by her family.  She was 63.

Guilderland’s varsity gymnastics team battled in sectionals on Feb. 10  at Shaker High School to get a spot in the state tournament on Feb. 27. 

One family member, Christine Sawyer, 51, remains hospitalized.

DUANESBURG — Joseph J. Merli made history tangible through objects. He fixed things no one else could, and he sought to preserve the industrial heritage that built America.

ALTAMONT — Thelma Crounse made friends in all parts of her life — in her work for the Guilderland school district, in her church where she taught Sunday school, in the village where she lived, and as part of its seniors’ group with which she enjoyed luncheons and outings.

She died on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016. She was 95.

GUILDERLAND — “Who would have thought, seven years ago, that we still wouldn’t have anything done?” said Bill Miller, who lives at 4384 Weaver Road.

ALTAMONT — Brett H. Johnson, who loved building motors for the racecars that his two sons drove, died in his Altamont home on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016. He was 64.

He worked with his sons, who inherited his passion and are both mechanics, every day on cars that the younger men would then race on weekends.
