Voorheesville Boys soccer

Last Wednesday, Oct. 30, the second-seeded Voorheesville boys soccer team traveled to La Salle Institute and competed in the Section 2, Class B sectional quarterfinal against the third-seeded Greenville.

On Monday afternoon, Sept. 30, the Voorheesville Blackbirds faced off against Schalmont in a contest between the top teams in the Colonial Council. The two teams battled back and forth on the pitch but the Sabres snuck in the win in overtime as the Birds fell 4-3.

On Monday, Oct. 23, the Voorheesville boys’ soccer team, the second seed in Class C, took on the 10th-seed Stillwater at home. The Birds started the scoring seven seconds into the game and won 8-0. They play tonight at 5 p.m. at Waterford in the semifinals.

On Saturday, Sept. 30, the Voorheesville boys’ soccer team hosted Mohonasen in a Colonial Council matchup during their homecoming weekend. The Birds bolted out fast but their defense was put to the test in the second half and the Birds held on for the 2-1 victory.

On Saturday, Oct. 29, the top-seeded Voorheesville Blackbirds boys’ soccer team battled second-seeded Maple Hill on the pitch for the Section 2, Class C sectional championship at Colonie High School. The Wildcats scored in overtime to have the Birds lose, 4 to 3.

Last Thursday, Oct. 20, the Voorheesville boys soccer team kicked off the Section 2, Class C sectionals as the top-seed. The Blackbirds faced off in the second round against 16th-seed Hadley-Luzerne.

Last Wed, Sept. 21, the Voorheesville boys soccer team traveled to Albany Academy for a crucial Colonial Council matchup. The Blackbirds had to battle back twice when they fell behind but completed the comeback to win, 3 to 2.

On Friday, Oct. 1, Voorheesville Blackbirds boys soccer team took on Colonial Council foe Catholic Central at home. From the opening whistle, Voorheesville led till the end and won 10-to-0.

The Voorheesville boys and girls opened Class C sectional soccer play on the right foot last week. The boys, the top seed, faced off against Schoharie on Saturday in the quarterfinals while the girls, seeded second, played Berne-Knox-Westerlo, the 18th seed, on Friday afternoon.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Voorheesville boys’ soccer team looked to keep their undefeated season going as they faced off at home against a strong foe in Mohonasen. The Birds’ impenetrable defense kept the Warriors from putting the ball in the back of the net. The Birds won, 2 to 0.
