As the Berne Town Board negotiates a new union contract for town employees that will likely include improved compensations for highway workers, residents question the town’s financial standing in a pandemic-addled economy.

Labor and management came to an agreement in Voorheesville, as the teachers’ union and school district signed a five-year agreement; teachers had been working without a contract for 18 months. 

Tara Molloy-Grocki is the new president of the Guilderland Teachers’ Association. She replaces Erin McNamara, who started in the post in 2014.

Work schedules have been the main obstacle in an ongoing labor dispute.

The Guilderland Teachers’ Association third annual back-to-school barbecue was held at Tawasentha Park on Sept. 8. Donations collected at the event were to be distributed to Capital District first responders.
