The New York State Thruway Authority Board of Directors approved the selection of the Design-Build team that will install cashless tolling on the Thruway by the end of 2020.
The Albany County Planning Board told Pyramid the ring road around Crossgates Mall is already very congested. Chairman Dominic Rigosu told Pyramid, “At some point, you have to say you have to mitigate it,” referring to the current traffic situation.
Because the Thruway bridge on East Old State Road has a vertical clearance that is almost one-and-a-half feet lower than the current standard and has been hit before, said Todd Gold of the Thruway Authority, it wouldn’t be safe to keep it open during rebuilding.
