The Town of Knox rang in the new year with a reorganizational meeting where Supervisor Vasilios Lefkaditis refused to answer questions about the absence of transfer station appointments on the meeting agenda, and acknowledged that he’s seeking new counsel ahead of Town Attorney Javid Afzali’s planned resignation.

Proposed operating procedures would have Gary Salisbury, who is both Knox’s deputy supervisor and highway superintendent, head the transfer station.

In Knox, furniture and other unwanted items are often left at the transfer station. The town is now seeking a partnership with the Capital Region Furniture Bank, which would take some of the furniture and bring it to those in need.

Jeff Alexander has held several positions within Berne's town government, among them overseeing the transfer station under the highway department, driving the senior bus, and maintaining the parks.

The town board voted against renewing Greene County Sanitation's license to dump at the Westerlo transfer station after reports of out-of-town trash.

Numbers of revenue and tonnage of scrap metal from the Westerlo transfer station have fluctuated widely over the last four years.
