Town of Guilderland

On Tuesday evening at Tawasentha Park, the Guilderland Police Department put on the 10th annual National Night Out that meant to encourage crime prevention, which included a bounce house, pony rides, a petting zoo, games, and demonstrations.

On June 19, Guilderland Town Hall hosted the second annual Hometown Heroes program where new banners were unveiled and some of the new ones were current Guilderland Police officers.

On Saturday, the Guilderland Center Fire Department celebrated their 100th year of service in the town of Guilderland.

Last weekend, the Westmere Fire department along with the other Town of Guilderland fire departments opened their doors in hopes of recruiting some new members to join since the number of volunteers are dropping across the nation.

On Saturday June 9, the McKownville Fire Department celebrating 100 years of service had a parade down Western Avenue.

The Guilderland Town Board voted unanimously this week to ban smoking and the use of tobacco products and e-cigarettes in the town’s parks.

James Melita was hired as town attorney in 2014. Now he has also been appointed temporary chairman of the ethics board — a situation ripe for potential conflicts of interest.
