Confusion about Voorheesville’s proposed sewer project had residents seeking answers from the village board at its monthly meeting.

Voorheesville recently had a study performed to assess the feasibility of placing sewer lines in and around Main Street and Voorheesville Avenue. With the study in hand, the village is now looking for grants to help defray the project’s $3.6 million cost.

In order to get toilet water from the Berne hamlet into the Fox Creek below, it has to be cleaned through the sewer district’s treatment facility, which recently started flowing wastewater through its tanks and coarse sand filter.

Supervisor Kevin Crosier said during the April 10 town board meeting that residents in the Berne hamlet will be able to hook into the new sewer system in June.

RENSSELAERVILLE — Water and Sewer committee Chairman Thomas Delp plans to retract a notice sent to water and sewer users in the hamlet describing the systems as compromised.
