“Our biggest nemesis is the corrosion of the bodies,” Guilderland's transportation supervisor, Danielle Poirier, told the school board, urging replacement of buses every 10 years.

A quick-thinking student helped when his school bus driver fell ill and the bus meandered off the road.

Guilderland wants to experiment by buying school buses with two different kinds of step wells to see which wears better. The district also plans to buy only large buses since it is contracting out runs with small buses.
