We support a project to build a new playground at Voorheesville Elementary School, replacing the quarter-century old one, but urge that this time the playground not be built beneath power lines.

BERNE — While far from being the oldest community theater group around  — that honor is claimed by the Footlight Club in the Boston neighborhood of Jamaica Plain (1877) — the Hilltowns Players have been a source of fun, entertainment, creative outlet, and instruction in theater arts for more than three decades now.

Students dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland for a production at the Altamont Elementary School this weekend.

In the Christmas classic, It’s A Wonderful Life, performed by the Classic Theater Guild on Dec. 20, George Bailey's angel, Clarence, saves him from jumping off a bridge by showing him what his town would be like if he hadn’t lived. 

Local performers will take the stage next week to bring to life the events of the anti-rent struggle that took place in our region nearly 175 years ago.
