At a packed hearing Tuesday, twice as many New Scotland residents spoke in favor of Cynthia Elliott’s plan for a party venue as spoke against. 

KNOX — When the Helderberg Rod & Gun club received  land on Quay Road in 1958 as a gift from  a family who were members, it seemed the perfect spot.  It was  a rural and largely wooded location, thinly populated.  It still is today, but now the land opposite the club  has some large homes.

The board also recently heard town residents who live near the Helderberg Rod and Gun Club register several complaints about the club and its noise.

KNOX — After a long and contentious public hearing on zoning amendments, the Knox Town Board on June 14 unanimously rejected measures that would have regulated light and noise for new businesses.

RENSSELAERVILLE — The town board discussed drafting a possible noise ordinance in an April 28 meeting that 10 residents attended.

The proposal was prompted by complaints Valerie Lounsbury said she has heard during her three years as supervisor.

A special town board meeting will be held to discuss a draft noise-control law on April 28, at 7 p.m.
