BERNE — While far from being the oldest community theater group around  — that honor is claimed by the Footlight Club in the Boston neighborhood of Jamaica Plain (1877) — the Hilltowns Players have been a source of fun, entertainment, creative outlet, and instruction in theater arts for more than three decades now.

The Hilltowns Players stage a revival of a musical comedy by one of their own.

A Medieval painter who has fascinated artist T. E. Breitenbach since his youth will come to life on stage in a play he wrote — “Hieronymous: A Musical Fantasy.” 

The Voorheesville Dionysians will perform “Into the Woods” at the Lydia C. Tobler Performing Arts Center March 18 to March 20.

 

Farnsworth Middle School in Guilderland performs Peter Pan, the musical, this weekend.

An often-large cast at Berne-Knox-Westerlo is performing the musical, about a Chicago teen who stirs up a small town with dancing, this weekend, starting at 7 p.m. on Friday.

“Mulan Jr.” will be performed on Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7, at 7 p.m at Farnsworth Middle School.

The musical comedy set in Ancient Rome will be performed at Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Nov. 21 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. and on the 23rd at 3 p.m.

About 80 Berne-Knox-Westerlo students this weekend will display the flair of 1950s pop culture in a plot, dotted with humor, about generational tensions.

The Sound of Music will be performed March 7 through 9 at the middle school, 6072 State Farm Rd. in Guilderland.
