Kathy Meany, an Altamont resident, will be honored for her dedication and support of conservation efforts in the Capital Region at an upcoming Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy awards dinner.

On Sept. 14, residents from across the Capital Region are invited to gather at the Thacher State Park Visitor Center for the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy’s fall fundraiser — 25 Years of Conservation: A Celebration.

RENSSELAERVILLE — The Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy is partnering with the Albany Symphony to bring an afternoon of music and nature to Capital Region residents and visitors on Saturday, June 24.

The Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy invites the public to explore Strawberry Fields Nature Preserve in Montgomery County at a grand opening event on May 20.

A Bethlehem native who grew up “right around the corner” from some of the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy’s preserves has now been hired there. The position is funded by a $66,000 state grant.

The Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy and the Eldridge family of Rensselaerville closed on an agreed conservation easement last month.

The Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy was founded 25 years ago on a cold winter evening by a small group of neighbors concerned about the loss of precious open space.

The “blueprint” for conservation looks at the importance of linking parks and protected areas, as well as highlighting landmarks such as the Helderbergs, and the Albany Pine Bush.
