Dr. Jane DeRook, now 90, is saddened by the way the town of Guilderland cut ties with her 45-year volunteer labor of love, the Guilderland Ballet. 

GUILDERLAND — Guilderland dealt with growth in 2015 as SUNY Poly made plans to expand on its eastern edge, and Vincent Wolanin, after five years, got approval for 210 luxury apartments in Westmere.

Kenneth Runion accomplished much in his 16 years as Guilderland's supervisor but tarnished his legacy by leaving town, retiring more than a month before his term ended.

Former Supervisor Kenneth Runion retired on Nov. 23, before his term was up, because he sold his house and moved to Florida.

“I made my plans clear back in September or October that I planned to retire around Thanksgiving,” said Kenneth Runion.

GUILDERLAND — Supervisor Kenneth Runion says the proposed $33 million budget for 2015 will not raise the town tax rate for residents — it will remain at 25 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation.

The budget will also remain under the state-set tax-levy cap by $224,000.
