Guilderland Baseball

On Saturday, April 20, the Guilderland baseball team had a non-league game against the Colonial Council’s LaSalle. The Cadets pitcher kept the Dutch at bay through five innings. The Dutch fell 8-to-1.

On Friday, May 19, the Guilderland baseball team traveled to Central Park Diamond A in Schenectady to play Niskayuna in the Section 2, Class AA sectional quarterfinals. The dominant pitching from Niskayuna silenced the Guilderland bats as the Dutch fell, 7 to 0.

Last Wednesday, April 26, the Guilderland Baseball team hosted Albany at Dutchmen Park. Guilderland’s head coach Doug LaValley looked to become the all-time winningest coach, surpassing Fred Field, with his 251st win.

On Tuesday, Apr. 11, the Guilderland baseball team played a non-league game against Shaker at Keenholts Park in Guilderland. The Dutch had their changes to close the game but the Shaker pitching didn’t allow it as the Dutch fell, 4 to 0.

On Friday, May 20, the second seeded Guilderland Dutchmen baseball team opened the Section 2, Class AA sectionals at home against seventh seeded Saratoga Blue Streaks. Saratoga pitching held the Dutch to five hits and beat the Dutch 2 to 0.

On Monday afternoon, April 18, the Guilderland baseball team traveled to Shaker High School for an early game against the Blue Bison. Guilderland’s batting picked up in the third inning, bringing them a 13-to-2 victory over Shaker.

The Guilderland Dutchmen baseball team travelled to Christian Brothers Academy on Saturday, June 5th, for a Suburban Council matchup in the season finale in preparation for sectionals this week.

Right off the bat, the Guilderland’s baseball team had momentum, scoring a run at the start of its Class AA sectional semifinal on Thursday evening at the Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy against top-seeded Niskayuna. But rain delayed the game till Friday afternoon, and the Dutch did not score again.

After starting well, the young Dutch baseball team has seen the season go up and down since then. On Monday afternoon, Guilderland traveled to Saratoga to play a key Suburban Council game. The game went back and forth but the Dutch couldn’t hold on to a one-run lead and fell, 6 to 5.

The weather mangled schedules for the Guilderland varsity baseball and softball teams this spring season. The Guilderland baseball team has played only two games, both wins, so the Dutchmen are 2-0 overall. The softball team has played three games and is 1-2 overall.
