ALTAMONT — For the eighth time, Enterprise editor Melissa Hale-Spencer was recognized among the best opinion writers in the weekly press.

Altamont Enterprise editor Melissa Hale-Spencer has won two first-place awards in this year’s National Newspaper Association Better Newspaper Contest.

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Chamber of Commerce, which is celebrating its 45th anniversary, is seeking nominations for its annual business awards and is looking for business nominees from Guilderland, Altamont, and Voorheesville.

The Altamont Enterprise was honored with six awards at this spring’s New York Press Association convention. Two first-place prizes were for images.

An 18-year-old high school student won an award at a research conference for his study of cancer cells. 

For the seventh time, Enterprise editor Melissa Hale-Spencer was recognized among the best opinion writers in the weekly press.

The Class of 2015 had a large percentage of its graduates this year who plan to enter the military.

A contingent from the school hopes to visit community businesses and organizations to share blue ribbons in recognition of its Blue Ribbon School designation last fall.

ALBANY — Alyssa Gaige, of East Berne earned the Girl Scout Silver Award for her project investigating wheelchair accessibility in Altamont last year.
