Albany County Land Bank

Governors Motor Inn

Store Away Self Storage has made an agreement with the land bank to buy the Governors Motor Inn, pending approval from the town.

The land bank wants to know how much it would cost to have the building demolished, to make the site more attractive to developers.

BETHLEHEM — Eight acres of landlocked farmland will be preserved in Bethlehem as development encroaches.

The land, near the intersection of Route 9W and Wemple Road, was acquired by the not-for-profit Albany County Land Bank from the county for tax foreclosure, and will now be kept open by the town.

The property at 22 Hammond Road, which a former county legislator wanted to buy for $60,000, was sold for $66,500 to a couple who has lived on adjacent property for years.

Blighted properties taken on by the Albany County Land Bank can be found in suburban and rural areas like New Scotland or the Helderberg Hilltowns.
