All are invited to the Altamont Seniors Luncheons in Altamont at St. Lucy's Parish Center on Grand Street at 11:30 a.m. Please call Winne Klenotiz at 861-5161 no later than Sunday evening prior to these scheduled events:
— Aug. 30: Laura Shore and Everett Rau, co-authors of "Stand Tall Against the Odds" about Everett's 97 years in Altamont will join us for lunch. The cost of lunch is $5;
— Sept. 13: Gary March will speak to us about Guilderland Center Long Term Care and Rehabilitation that is now under new management. Seniors will be invited to ride on the Senior Bus to view the facility and take a tour;
— Sept. 20: Joe Burke, director at the Altamont Free Library, will talk about recent bestsellers, or older titles.
Upcoming trip
On Sept. 8, the seniors will take a day trip by bus to Gavin's Irish Country Inn in East Durham. We’ll leave the parish center at 8:30 a.m.. We will have a paint workshop where we will each paint a martini glass while enjoying Irish tea and scones. We’ll lunch at noon on steak, shrimp, and clams and then listen to live Irish music from 1:30 to 3:30. Afterward, we’ll tour the new Irish tea shop, and we’ll arrive home at 5 p.m.
The cost is $45 for residents and $55 for non-residents, which is not refundable. To make a reservation, please make your check payable to “Village of Altamont.” You may bring your payment to the regular Tuesday luncheon; mail it to the Altamont Seniors, Post Office Box 227, Altamont, NY 12009; or drop it off at the village office.
