Berne Summerfest - A day full of creeping, crawling, and flying critters
Berne Summerfest
A day full of creeping, crawling, and flying critters
To the Editor:
Come one, come all to the Berne SummerFest this Saturday, Aug. 27, from noon till dark, and join us in the fun, food, and music celebrating our community at the Berne Town Park.
Returning favorites and new activities will interest young, old, and everyone in between. Back by popular demand is the hands-on fun of Reptile Adventure, this year joined by raptor demonstrations with wildlife rehabilitator Joyce Perry for a day full of creeping, crawling, and flying critters. Kids who want to be like rabbits can have a hoppy time in the free Bounce House courtesy of the Berne-Knox-Westerlo Little League.
Anyone who is more sedate can have their caricature drawn by artist Phil Singer. The more daring may want to take a turn on the climbing wall. Both are free from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Be sure to check out the fire trucks and the kids’ activities offered by the Ladies’ Auxiliary.
Food will be available for purchase all day from several local organizations and Elegant Touch Catering Company. Jumbo Connect 4, parachute, beanbag toss and other games are offered for kids to free-play throughout the day and the horseshoe courts are open for anyone wishing to have a game.
Wander among the crafters, artisans, local organizations and other vendors, or relax in the pavilion where local bands Nite Train, Flood Road, Stringdusters, Shine Hill Road, and Hilltown Ramblers will perform from 1:30 p.m. until the fireworks start at 8:30 p.m. Bring your favorite instrument along and join the crowd for a jam session that is open to all in the pavilion immediately following the fireworks.
More details and directions to the park are on the festival’s website www.townofberne.wix.com/summerfest.
