Food, music, and planet-gazing made a perfect night

To the Editor:

A heartfelt thank-you is extended to Forever Rural members and friends Jeff Petrosillo, Justin Zimmer, and Miles Pangburn for the donation of hot dogs, burgers, soda, and water at the Black Mountain Symphony concert June 25 at the Lodge on the Game Farm Road Property.

Not only did they provide the foodstuffs gratis to the public attending the concert, but they worked industriously cooking the food. Red-eyed from the grilling smoke, they flipped and rolled the simmering and sizzling grub, served it hot on platters to the waiting public, and then, at concert’s end, cleaned up the kitchen with a diligence worthy of any cleaning service.

Equally heartfelt thanks are extended to the local musicians of Black Mountain Symphony who performed for their appreciative audience: Charlie Burgess, Annie (Campo) Burgess, Bear Campo, Paul Burke, Jason Matthews, and “Wyclef” Pepple. They provided an eclectic mix of music that filled the evening air and delighted even the youngest in the crowd.  Parents, grandparents, and babies all rocked to the strains of their music.

Last, but certainly not least, a sincere thank-you is extended to the Helderberg Earth and Science Observatory group who rounded out the evening with the public viewing of Jupiter’s moons and the rings of Saturn.  The telescopes they provided gave the public a glimpse of the heavens until well after dark.
