Thank you for caring about the Earth’s future, Mr. Campo

To the Editor:

“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”

I do not see a beautiful view when I drive through Berne with my “Eyes on the road.” What do I see? Speed-limit signs, caution signs, power poles, and cable telephone and electric lines.

I am not a transplant, as my family has been in the Albany County hills and surrounding areas since the 1600s. My grandfathers before me brought many a settler to this area for freedom: to own farms, start trades, and raise families.

Ownership of property doesn’t seem to mean much anymore. You pay the taxes, but that is where it ends.

Instead of making new zoning laws, restrictions, and you-can’t-do-that laws, because someone doesn’t like the view, is hog wash.

I feel like Muhammad Ali right now: The road leads in and the road leads out; that is what it is all about.

Mr. Anthony Campo, Thank you for caring about the Earth’s future and doing your part to preserve it. (The Altamont Enterprise, June 16, 2016, “Town board meeting shines light on solar power.”

Maybe the town could be enjoying free electricity and income if they would have a solar farm put in at the Game Farm Road property. Just think how that would help the taxpayers and residents.
