Avlon (Christine) Eldred

ALTAMONT — Avlon (Christine) Eldred — a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, May 20, 2016, with family by her side.

 She was an active member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion posts.

 “She was known for her love of the color purple,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She enjoyed spending time with her many friends and all her family.”

 She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Shafer, and her husband, Dave; her sons, Kalmon Dunston and his wife, Elizabeth, and David Dunston and his wife, Holly; her seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four brothers; one sister; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Her son Robbie Dunston died befor her.

Services will be held on Monday, May 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, May 24, at 11 a.m. at Fredendall Funeral Home in Altamont.
