On May 9, students learned and saw the transit of Mercury as it passes the sun.

Watching the planets: An eighth-grade student from Berne-Knox-Westerlo looks through a telescope to watch the transit of Mercury as it passes the sun while Albany Area Amateur Astronomer Betsy Whitlock looks up on Monday morning. This was put on by the Helderberg Earth & Sky Observatory along with Earth-science teacher Matthew Decker.​
