Hotaling arrested for sex chat with 15-year-old

GUILDERLAND — A 42-year-old Schenectady man has been arrested for  “engaging in sexually oriented on-line chats” with a 15-year-old Guilderland girl, according to a release from the Guilderland Police who made the arrest on Friday.

Mark A. Hotaling of 117 Ninth Ave, who works at Rollarama in Rotterdam, met the girl there and “ a relationship was initiated,” the release says.

Hotaling was charged with first-degree and second-degree disseminating indecent material to minors, both felonies, and with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

The investigation is continuing, which may result in additional charges.

Hotaling was arraigned in Guilderland Town Court and remanded to Albany County’s jail with bail set at $25,000.

The Guilderland Police Department was assisted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation Task Force and the New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit.

Anyone who may have information regarding Hotaling is asked to contact the Guilderland Police at (518) 356-1501.
