Mary F. Delligan

EAST BERNE — Mary F. Delligan loved to help others; she took care of her family and of those who were ailing.

She died peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 15, 1940, she was 75.

Mrs. Delligan worked as a private-duty nurse’s aid for three decades. “She took care of people,” said her oldest child, Jacqueline Olejnik. “She loved it. She lived in their homes and stayed with them until they died.”

She had five children. “She was a good mom. She was always there for us,” said Ms. Olejnik.

“She was always smiling and laughing,” said Ms. Olejnik. “She loved her grandchildren.”

Mary F. Delligan is survived by her sister, Janet McCullough; her daughter Jacqueline Olejnik and her husband, Joseph, her son Anthony Delligan Jr. and his wife, Louise, her son William Delligan and his wife, Stacy, her daughter, Patricia Lilienthal and her husband, James, her daughter, Tina Delligan and her husband, Wallace; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and her friends Joy and Larry Williams.

Her husband, Anthony Delligan Sr., died in 1995. Her granddaughter Ashley Sammons died in 2006. Two of her sisters and two brothers also died before her.

Arrangements are by Fredendall Funeral Home of Altamont. Mourners may leave condolences online at www.fredendallfuneralhome.com.
