Duwane C. Flagler

WESTERLO — Duwane C. Flagler, a dairy farmer who liked to hunt and fish, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday Nov. 3, 2015. He was 74.

Mr. Flagler was born in Albany on Nov. 16, 1940 to the late Clifton and Helen Messer Flagler. He was raised in Westerlo and graduated from Berne-Knox-Westerlo School, where he was an active member of the Future Farmers of America. He worked as a dairy farmer on his family farm.

Mr. Flagler had many hobbies; he was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Other hobbies included woodworking, reading, history, gardening, researching genealogy, and antiquing.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel, and by his children: Renee Fisher and her husband, Tim; Robin Smith and her husband, Jim; Cameron Flagler; Devin Flagler and his wife, Mary; and Scott Flagler.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica Zoccola and her husband, Anthony, Justin Fisher, Kya, Alyssa, Austin, and Kaitlyn Flagler, and Aaron and MacKenzie Smith; his great-grandchildren, Autumn, Carter, and Mia Zoccola; and many close friends.

His parents, Clifton and Helen Messer Flagler, died before him, as did his daughter Rachell Flagler.

Services are private. Arrangements are by the A. J. Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville. Mourners may post condolences online at ajcunninghamfh.com.

The family thanks the Intensive Care Unit staff at Albany Medical Center and St. Peter’s Hospital for their excellent care and compassion.
