Pumpkins to be painted teal at Gade Farm

GUILDERLAND — Gade Farm will offer a project in support of children with food allergies at its sixth annual PumpkinFest on Saturday.

A teal pumpkin-painting station will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the festival, which will take place at the store, at 2479 Western Avenue.

The farm will provide small pumpkins and teal paint; a pumpkin painted teal and placed in front of a home is a visible sign that a house has non-candy treats available for children with food allergies.

Food Allergy Research and Education initiated the Teal Pumpkin Project to help keep the one in 13 children in the United States suffering from a food allergy safe on Halloween.

Gade Farm’s PumpkinFest is free and in addition to pumpkin painting, includes Halloween stories and crafts, and indoor maze, and a vendor showcase.
