GUILDERLAND — Robert C. Dinovo died unexpectedly on Sept. 9, 2015. He was 56.

Mr. Dinovo was born in Albany to the late Salvatore and Joan (Bonitz) Dinovo.

He graduated from Guilderland High School in 1977 and received a degree in horticulture from Delhi University.

Mr. Dinovo’s sister, Lisa Knightes, said her brother loved plants and flowers, and always knew the best plants for every season and location. He was very good at the design aspect of landscaping, she said.

He owned a landscaping company, Di-Mond landscaping, with his best friend Ted Raymond, for 19 years. He also worked at Phoebe’s Florist — where Phoebe called him an “excellent designer” — and, most recently, at A Touch of Country Florist, both in Guilderland.

He also worked as a part-time bartender at the Cat’s Meow.

“He had a lot of friends,” said Knightes, “and a good sense of humor.”

He also enjoyed spending time with his family and was a life member of the Westmere Fire Department.

Mr. Dinovo is survived by his sisters, Lisa Knightes, and her husband, Donald, and Holly Marbaker, and her husband, Nicholas; his brother, Timothy Dinovo, and his wife, Dawn; his nieces and nephew, Michelle and Morgan Knightes, and Cole, Gwenn, and Emma Marbaker; his aunts and uncles, Phil DiNovo, and his wife, Mary, Ann Whitehouse, Camille Micozzi, Gus DiNovo, and his wife, Vicki, and Charles Bonitz; and many cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday at the New Comer Funeral Home in Colonie. Burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4 Atrium Drive #100, Albany, NY 12205.
