ALTAMONT — A spate of thefts from unlocked cars in the developments north of Gregg Road appeared in the village police incident reports eight times from Aug. 9 to 21.

Since March 13, there was one other report of such larceny in the village when in April a bike was reported stolen from a car’s rack on Main Street.

Altamont Police reports until Aug. 21 state:

— On Aug. 9, a pair of sunglasses was reported stolen from a vehicle overnight on Indian Maiden Pass;

— On Aug. 9, a cell phone ear piece was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Groot Drive overnight;

— On Aug. 9, a Leatherman multi-tool, ear buds, and two iPods were reported stolen from the glovebox of an unlocked vehicle on Indian Maiden Pass;

— On Aug. 9, a global-positioning system unit was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight on Knower Court;

— On Aug. 9, a digital camera was reported stolen overnight from an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway on Sanford Place;

— On Aug. 12, two bicycles were reported stolen from a house and a global positioning system unit from a car on Sanford Place. The bicycles were noticed missing in the evening on Aug. 11, and the victim was unsure when they were last seen and whether or not the car had been locked, the report said;

— On Aug. 12, a laptop was reported stolen from an unlocked car on Indian Maiden Pass. The laptop was noticed missing on Aug. 10, the report said; and

— On Aug. 21, a fire extinguisher and a global positioning system unit were reported stolen from a recreational vehicle on Indian Maiden Pass between Aug. 7 and 12.
