Guard promotes

These local members of the New York Army National Guard have recently been promoted:

— Tyler Center from Slingerlands, serving with the 1156th Engineer Company is promoted to the rank of Private First Class;

Christine Ross from Delmar, N.Y. (postal code 12054) and serving with the 206th Military Police Company is promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Eric Monk from Schenectady, N.Y. (postal code 12303) and serving with the Headquarters and Support Company, 42nd Infantry Division is promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

David Hennessy from Delmar, N.Y. (postal code 12054) and serving with the Intelligence and Sustainment Company, 42nd Infantry Division is promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential.

    ALBANY COUNTY — Albany County is now accepting applications for grants to enhance, improve, or develop city, town, and village-owned parks, playgrounds, or recreational facilities.

    Grants are capped at $15,000 each from the $150,000 available. The deadline to apply is June 30.
