CLARKSVILLE — Join us on Wednesday, on June 3 at the Clarksvill Historical Society meeting, when Dietrich Ghering will discuss the impact of hops today and his efforts to re-establish a commercially viable Helderberg hops farm in the shadow of the Helderbergs near Indian Ladder Farms.

His talk is titled “Hops in New York State: A Brief History of the New York State Hop Industry and Where We Stand Today.” 

New York State has a long history of hops production, from the mid 19th-Century boom and decline to today’s Farm Brewery Act. Ghering will take us through some of this history, and the status of hops farming now.

The program will be preceded by our annual meeting, which will begin at 7 p.m.; the program will start by 7:30 p.m.  The meeting will be held at the Clarksville Community Church on the Delaware Turnpike in Clarksville.  For more information, call 768-2870.
