Ensuring GCSD families feel supported and cared for
To the Editor:
Over the past several months, the Guilderland Teachers’ Association Social Justice Committee has been working to address food insecurity within our district.
In partnership with Lasagna Love — a national network of volunteers who prepare and deliver homemade meals to over 60 Guilderland Central School District students and families in need — we organized a districtwide effort to support members of our community.
Each of our seven school buildings selected a date to participate, gathered donations of ingredients and supplies, prepared lasagnas, and helped deliver meals directly to local families. This collaborative effort brought together educators and community members with a shared goal: ensuring that families in our district feel supported and cared for.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Phillips Hardware for its generous response to our request for donations and its support of this initiative.
We are grateful for the opportunity to assist GCSD families and look forward to continuing this work in the years to come.
