Photos: Running Quick Times Towards States

On Saturday, Feb. 14, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Bethlehem, Guilderland, and Voorheesville track teams took to the Hudson Valley Community College indoor track floor for a last-chance battle to get to Staten Island for the state competition on March 6.

Easy clear: Guilderland’s Arianna Mills arches her body to soar over the bar and clear the opening height with ease. Mills finished 6th with a height of 4 feet, 10 inches but qualified for states in the long jump.

Get out of my way: Guilderland’s Ryan Rainka attempts to clear the second to last hurdle but his right heel clips the top in the 55-meter hurdle semis. Rainka finished 17th with a time of 9.64 seconds.

Going all out: Blackbirds’ Gus Dawson-Beilby comes down the track at full speed during his 55-meter dash semifinal. Dawson-Beilby finished 13th with a time of 6.97 seconds.

Running hard: Blackbirds’ Chloe Kinzel sprints down the track at full speed as she looks to get a good time. Kinzel finished 11th with a time of 7.74 seconds.

Swing her arms hard: Guilderland’s Grace Kachadurian breaks from her blocks as she looks to get to full speed quickly in the 55-meter dash. Kachadurian finished 10th with a time of 7.73 seconds.

Getting ahead: Eagles’ Danny McNabb (16) and John Wang (10) start to go around the turn as they cross the finish line and start another lap in the 3200-meters. McNabb finished 9th with a time of 10:25.34 and Wang in 13th with a time of 10:33.31.

Setting to make a late move: Guilderland’s Ben Mayer starts to go into the turn looking for an opening as he starts another lap in the 3200-meters. Mayer finished 12th with a time of 10:27.84.

Getting the inside line: Guilderland’s Ryan Holb runs along the inside portion of the track as he looks to squeeze past the Colonie runner. Holb finished 5th with a time of 10:21.04.

One turn at a time: Eagles’ Keaton Rickert (6) and Blackbirds’ Mason Curl (3) run close to one another in the early going in the 3200-meters. Rickert finished 10th with a time of 10:27.59 and Curl in 3rd with a time of 10:10.56.

Pacing himself: Eagles’ Tristan McCarthy starts to make his way around the turn after crossing the finish line to start another lap in the 3200-meters. McCarthy finished 14th with a time of 10:35.12.

Breezing over: Guilderland’s Parker Steele clears over the last hurdle as she looks to get to the finish line and past the runner ahead of her. Steele finished second with a time of 8.56 seconds and qualified for states.

Kicking it in the finals: Guilderland’s Langston Threatte extends his left leg to clear the hurdle as he battles in the finals of the 55-meter hurdles. Threatte finished 4th with a time of 8.09 seconds.

State size leap: Guilderland’s Jack Larson flies off the board as he soars towards the pit during his first attempt in the long jump. Larson won with a distance of 22 feet, 7.75 inches and qualified for states in the long jump and also in the 300 meters.

Battling neck and neck: Eagles’ Jonathan Radcliffe (5) and Bulldogs’ Kole Irwin (4) run besides one another as they look to get to the finish line first in the finals of the 55-meter dash. Radcliffe finished 2nd with a time of 6.67 seconds to qualify in the event and also in the 300-meters and Irwin won with a time of 6.47 seconds to qualify in the event and will also be in the 300-meters at states.

Using her speed: Guilderland’s Fiona McCarthy sprints down the track in the finals of the 55-meter dash. McCarthy finished 5th with a time of 7.44 seconds and qualified for states.

Here I come! Guilderland’s Abigail Mullen locks her eyes straight ahead as she sprints quickly down the track in the finals of the 55-meter dash. Mullen finished 6th with a time of 7.49 seconds.

Breezing along: Blackbirds’ Savannah Schmidt comes off the turn in the 3000-meters alone as she looks to qualify in the event. Schmidt finished 7th with a time of 10:47.28 but will be part of the 4x800-meter relay team that qualified.

One step ahead: Guilderland’s Jane McCoy comes off the turn just ahead of the Shenendehowa runner as they compete in the 3000-meters. McCoy finished 11th with a time of 11:27.11.

Small group: Eagles’ Sophia Chromczak (2) and Guilderland’s Teagan Davis (3) run close to one another in the early portion of the 3000-meters. Chromczak finished 3rd with a time of 10:08.15 and Davis in 6th with a time of 10:34.79.
