On Saturday, Feb. 14, Berne-Knox-Westerlo-Middleburgh, Bethlehem, and Guilderland wrestling squads battled in the Section 2 state qualifiers for division 1 and 2 state competition at MVP arena on Feb. 27-28.

Almost got him: Guilderland’s Ritchard Price lays on top of Queensbury’s Riley Nissinoff as he looks to pin him in their 285-pound wrestleback. Price lost by pin in 2:31.

Moving on: Guilderland’s Kody Dott reaches for Shen’s Mason Little’s legs in the second period of their 103-pound semifinal. Dott won 7-2 and qualified for states by finishing second.

Got him in the right spot: Guilderland’s Ian Eisenhelder gets both hands clasped together as he looks to get Ballston Spa’s Steven Bondar to the mat in their 118-pound wrestleback. Eisenhelder won 9-1 and finished 6th.

Fireman’s carry: Eagles’ Lucas Nalbone has Niskayuna’s Drew Schiavo on his shoulders as he looks to get him to the mat in their 132-pound semifinal. Nalbone won 8-5 and won the sectional championship and qualified for states.

Pedal to the metal: BKW-Middleburgh’s Gabe English grabs a hold of Corinth’s Ashton Moors’ left leg as he takes him to the mat in their 175-pound semifinal. English won by pin in 55 seconds and won his division and qualified for states.
