To the Editor:

Thank you for the article “Bethlehem down to two choices on elementary school rezone,” [The Altamont Enterprise, Jan. 8, 2026]. I’m afraid I hadn’t been paying as much attention as I should, and your article helped bring me up to speed.

Our school board — like all local governing bodies — has tough decisions to make. In this one, the Bethlehem Central School District board has been thoughtful and responsive to people in the community. 

The Altamont Enterprise coverage of local news is of tremendous value to all of us. As Erica Chenoweth said, “It’s really ordinary people living where they are, working together in their communities and leading their communities as leaders, that make or break the future of our society.”
