Barbara J. Klein

ALBANY — Barbara J. Klein, who had a career with the state’s education department, was known for the activities she arranged for Warners Lake.

She died peacefully on Friday, Sept. 19, 2025. She was 79.

Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late John and Madeline Kindlon. Her husband, Jack Klein, died before her as did their daughter, Michelle Klein.

“Barbara started work at 16 years old,” her family wrote in a tribute. “She went on to work for the NewYork State Education Department before her retirement after 37 years.

“She was an active auxiliary member of the Joseph E. Zaloga Post for over 20 years, the Polish American Citizens Club, and a past member of the Warners Lake Improvement Association where she arranged many activities including movie nights on the lake.

“She was well known for performing karaoke in Albany. Barbara was an avid garage-sale shopper.”

Barbara J. Klein is survived by her daughter, Sharon Klein, and her grandsons, JD Klein and Jack Hazen. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Shelly Klein.

Barbara will also be missed by her siblings, twin brother Daniel Kindlon (Elizabeth), and brother Paul Kindlon, and sister, Patricia Coscione, and many nieces and nephews.

Her brother John E. Kindlon died before her.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals at 343 New Karner Road in Colonie. A funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. with inurnment following at Woodlawn Cemetery.
