Follow a path through Guilderland history this weekend

To the Editor:

June 14 and 15 is designated as a New York State Path Through History Weekend.

In conjunction, the Guilderland Historical Society is partnering with the Guilderland Garden Club to share historical information with the public at three town of Guilderland locations on Saturday, June 14, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Locations and details include:

— The Cobblestone School just west of the Park Guilderland entrance on Main Street in Guilderland Center where an exterior display and information will be available for visitors;

— The John L. Schoolcraft House at 2299 Western Ave. Guilderland will have its first floor open to visitors. The Schoolcraft House is a fine local example of “Gothic Revival” architecture. This is one of the first opportunities for visits since the exterior repainting project;

— The Mynderse-Frederick House at 451 Main Street in Guilderland Center will have tours of both the first and second floor during the open house. Interior painting of this home and former tavern was recently completed.

Come learn about some of the local history of this location, the people who lived here, and tour the award-winning gardens. There will be a plant sale. Refreshments will be served at this location compliments of the Guilderland Garden Club.
