“All of the parks, playgrounds, and green spaces of Albany County offer an opportunity to peacefully retreat from the constant intensity of everyday life and actually enjoy the beauty of nature’s blooming flowers and birdsongs,” said Albany County Legislature Chairwoman Joanne Cunningham in a release from the legislature, which is sponsoring the grants in conjunction with the County Executive’s Office and the Department of Parks and Recreation.
“They provide open spaces for reflection, connection, and recreation, inviting people of all ages to unwind,” Cunningham went on. “This program supports the idea that tranquility is an important part of our communities right alongside the traditional needs.”
