EAST BERNE — Miranda L. Scholz, fondly known as “Mandy,” was beloved for her role in her family’s restaurant, Scholz’s Hofbrau.

She died peacefully in Albany on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at age 66.

“Born in Albany on Oct.14, 1958, she was the cherished daughter of Reinhold and Heidi Scholz,” her family wrote in a tribute. “Mandy spent her childhood in New Scotland and graduated from Voorheesville’s high school.

“For many years, she dedicated herself to her family’s restaurant, Scholz’s Hofbrau, where her warm smile and welcoming nature made her a beloved figure in the community. As the manager, she skillfully handled every aspect of the business, but her personal connections with patrons brought her the greatest joy.

“Her work at the Hofbrau brought her back to her hometown of East Berne, on Warners Lake, where she thrived in the close-knit community.

“Mandy’s greatest pride was her family, especially her son, Ian, daughter-in-law, Cat, and her beloved grandson, Triton. She treasured every moment spent with them, whether sharing family dinners, enjoying movie nights, working outdoors, or cheering them on as they raced their dirt bikes.”

“All who know her will deeply miss Mandy’s spirit and kindness.”

Miranda L. Scholz is survived by her son, Ian Hofelich (Catherine), and her grandson, Triton Hofelich. She also leaves behind two cherished cousins, Manfred “Fred” (Dawn) Meier and Michael (Kate) Meier, along with many dear friends whom she considered family.

Her parents, Reinhold and Heidi Scholz, died before her, as did her brother, Ron Scholz.

A co-celebration of life for Miranda and her father, Reinhold Scholz, will be held later this summer.
