To the Editor:

Thank you to the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce, the other not-for-profits, and the Westmere Fire Department for a fun and successful event [the Jan. 23 Heat is On cook-off, which raised $2,300 for local not-for-profits].

Mary Gene Tanski, our chief cook, bottle-washer, and board member, was honored with first prize for “best flavor.” We look forward to defending our title next year.

We owe a big debt of gratitude to our generous sponsors: Sidoni and Sons Packing Co., Syron’s Market, Pede Brothers Italian Specialty Foods, and Altamont Orchards. 

We also want to thank Guilderland Hannaford and Market 32 for supplies, and Olivia and Carman Wine and Liquor for gift certificates, and 925 Blake Deli for equipment.

Once again, we experienced the support of our wonderful community. Thank you all.
