RENSSELAERVILLE — After a two-month hiatus, First Friday Playhouse is back, now at Conkling Hall in Rensselaerville.

“Body as an Instrument” is the theme for Friday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. at 8 Methodist Hill Road.

“This month, I’ll lead a workshop designed to help you unlock your body’s natural chambers and strengths to produce powerful, resonant sound — perfect for performance or public speaking,” said Tara McCormick-Hostash, the artistic director for R’ville Stage Creations.

She added that no experience or materials are necessary.

The theme for Friday, March 7, will be Improvisation.

The R’ville Stage Creations website has this to say about improv games: “Get ready to think on your feet and let your creativity soar with silly and inspiring warm-up activities.”

It also describes the playhouse as “a safe and inclusive space where everyone can express themselves and explore their creativity,”

Auditions for “The Crucible”

R’ville Stage Creations is casting for its April 2025 production of Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible,” and is looking for “fearless and talented performers of all ages,” according to an announcement.

A synopsis of the play, set in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692, says, “A small group of girls ‘cry out’ against other people in the town, accusing them of witchcraft, in an attempt to cover up their own dabblings in the occult. Led by Abigail Williams, the girls’ accusations cause a court to be formed to investigate the alleged crimes ….”

Auditioners are asked to prepare a one- to two-minute dramatic monologue, which does not need to be memorized.

If invited to callbacks, actors will be asked to cold-read from the script in small groups.

Auditions will be held Feb. 17, at 7 p.m., at the Greenville Public Library, and Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. at Conkling Hall.

Invitations will be sent via email by 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19.
