High School Issues
Its Second Paper
“The Tawasentha,” Altamont’s High School paper, is off the press today, being the second number and having six pages this month. It is a very readable paper and Altamonters should be proud of the fact that their young people are interesting themselves in literary endeavor.
The subscription rate is 90 cents per school term.
DELANSON
— We are told that a man in authority was in our village recently warning the people who are selling liquids which were being used for beverages to desist or they would have to suffer the penalty of the law. Why not enforce the law? They know what the law of the land is.
— Mrs. Frank Alexander was in Amsterdam a part of last week staying with her daughter, Mrs. Norman Wilson, while Mr. Wilson took a trip to Iowa as the guest of the Maytag Washing Machine Co., in recognition of the second largest sales in Service Appliance company’s stores. Mr. Wilson is manager of the company’s store in Amsterdam.
VILLAGE NOTES
Altamont has been troubled for several weeks with an “epidemic” of dogs, both owned and ownerless. No doubt these animals enjoy life as much as we humans do, but the fact remains that so many hungry dogs roaming the streets make a nuisance. The law provides that unlicensed dogs shall be disposed of, and it is one of the duties of certain officers to attend to this necessary, though unpleasant work. Where are the officers whose duty it is to do the work?
WEST TOWNSHIP
Township will be without a blacksmith again this winter, Mr. Frisbee having gone to spend the winter with his wife and daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Truax of Warners’ Lake.
THE COMING ECLIPSE
To observe the eclipse use a piece of dark or smoked glass. Before the eclipse one should try smoking glass and make sure that it is the proper density.
DELMAR PARENT TEACHERS’
ASSOCIATION MEETS
The association met Tuesday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Worden.
During the meeting the question of the ratification of the Child Labor Law was discussed and the association is endeavoring to get for their speaker next month someone who will deal with that question so that it may be thoroughly discussed and possibly action taken.
