Photos: Dutch Grapple On The Mat

On Saturday, Dec. 14, the Guilderland boys’ wrestling squad battled against 31 other teams in a round-robin style tournament at the Impact Athletic Center in Clifton Park in the Wrangle on the plains. All of the Guilderland wrestlers finished in the top four in their weight classes.

All wrapped up: Guilderland’s Thomas McCarthy has both of his arms securely around Newburgh Free Academy’s MJay Smith late in the first period of their 190-pound yellow match. McCarthy fell 16-to-7 but wrestled to a second place finish.

Forcing the shoulders: Guilderland’s Ian Eisenhandler lays on top of Hudson Falls’ Greyson Smith as Eisenhandler has a deep hold on Smith’s left arm in their 108-pound green match. Eisenhandler won by fall in 1:40 and finished second overall.

Standing tall: Guilderland’s Jack Colloton plants his feet into the mat as he fights off Briarcliffe-Byram Hills-Valhalla-Westlake’s Robbie Barbuto moves in their 145-pound blue match. Colloton fell by pin in 1:31 but wrestled to a third place finish.

Roll em: Guilderland’s Evan Endres wraps his arms around Burr-Burton’s Quinn Veth-McGovern as he shifts Veth-McGovern onto his shoulders in the second period in their 152-pound pink class. Endres won by pin in 2:41 and finished second.
