Warren Hatch Clement

GUILDERLAND — Warren Hatch Clement, a chef who built his own house, died peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, with his loving daughter at his side.  He was 86.

Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Virginia “Jean” (née Hall) Clement and King Matthew Clement Sr. of Albany. 

“He was happily married for 49 years to Marie (née Schleder) Clement,” his family wrote in a tribute. “Together with his wife, they enjoyed living in Guilderland in a house he built.

“Warren followed the footsteps of his grandfather, father, and brother into the food-service business.  Warren was an excellent chef, working in many restaurants and country clubs in the area as well as serving as the dietary director at Teresian House. He was an active member of the American Culinary Association.

“Throughout his life, he enjoyed sports, especially playing basketball in an Albany city league earlier in life and later in a plus-50 men’s league. He also enjoyed golfing and pool. He enjoyed going to the local YMCA and then for coffee to Stewarts with his buddies.”

Warren Hatch Clement is survived by his daughter, Anna Marie, and son-in-law, Mitchell Kupinski; his grandson, Justin Kupinski, and his wife, Alisa; and his great-grandsons, Theodore and William.

He is also survived by his sister, Dixie Lawrence, of Clifton Park; his brother, King Clement Jr. and his wife, Heidi, of Port Charlotte, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, Virginia “Jean” (née Hall) Clement and King Matthew Clement Sr., died before him, as did his wife, Marie.  

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home at 5216 Western Tpke. in Guilderland, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. He will then be interred at Evergreen Memorial Park.
