Berne man charged with two child porn felonies

BERNE — A Berne man was arrested by state police on Sept. 11 for two felonies: one for promoting and the other for possessing sexual performance by a child.

Anthony W. Rera, 29, of Berne, is accused of “promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation,” according to a press release from the New York State Police.

His arrest followed an investigation and the execution of a search warrant on his home in Berne, on Wednesday.

The investigation stemmed from a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the release said, and the State Police of Princetown were assisted by the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the United States Department of Homeland Security.

Rera was arrested and processed at the state police headquarters in Princetown, the release said, and taken to Schoharie County’s jail to await arraignment.
