GUILDERLAND – Gay B. Byron, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in her Guilderland home surrounded by her loving family. She was 90.

She was born in Germantown, New York to the late Willard and Katherine Fingar Best.

Her beloved husband, Robert Byron, died before her, as did her brothers, Gwynne and Granville Best, and her sister-in-law, Margaret Dyer.

She is the cherished mother of David Byron and his wife, Rose, and the grandmother of Christopher Byron and his wife, Jaclyn, and Kara Lake and her husband, Wayne. She is the great-grandmother of Jacob and Kayleigh Lake, and Silas and Sullivan Byron.

She is the sister of Wendell Best and his wife, Pat, and sister-in-law of Marilyn and Carol Best. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the main entrance of Memory Gardens in Colonie to attend graveside services on Friday, Aug. 2, at 11:30 a.m.

    WESTERLO — Richard “Dick” Rapp died peacefully on Monday, Sept. 1, 2025. He was 87.

    He was born on Nov. 26. 1937, in Albany, son of the late Herman and Ethel (née Manchester) Rapp. He graduated from Berne-Knox-Westerlo in 1956.
